Design a modular premium signature object system for Halora
I am developing Halora, a premium signature object platform that may eventually support internal digital functionality, but this phase is focused on original product concepts that balance strong brand identity with realistic manufacturing potential.
I am not looking for a replica of an existing design, and I am not looking for a purely decorative or purely graphic concept. I want original, ownable, product-driven concepts that could realistically evolve into a manufacturable premium object system.
The goal is to create a distinctive hero core piece that can be used across multiple categories and potentially integrated into secondary bodies or attachment systems such as wearables, keychains, luggage, bag accessories, and other formats.
This should be approached as a modular object system, not just a single fixed item. Presentation files should include PDF and high-resolution PNG/JPG renders.
What I Need
I am looking for multiple concept directions for a premium signature object that can function as the recognizable core element across a family of products.
The design should:
• feel premium, trusted, lasting, and recognizable
• be modular and adaptable across different applications
• show realistic awareness of manufacturing and product development
• preserve room for future internal component integration - 14 mm round minimum
• feel commercially viable, not just conceptual
Core Design Intent
The object should feel:
• trusted
• lasting
• recognizable
• premium
• emotionally resonant
• heirloom-like
• distinct enough to become a brand asset
The core piece should be neutral, iconic, and adaptable, with personality able to shift through its attachment system, scale, material, or finish.
Brand assets are provided for inspiration and alignment. Concepts do not need to directly replicate the logo, but should feel consistent with the brand’s premium, recognizable identity.
Design System Thinking
I want designers to think beyond a single object.
The concept should include:
1. A hero core piece
2. A way that core piece can adapt across multiple product categories
3. Optional secondary bodies, carriers, or attachment systems that the hero piece can integrate into
Examples of applications may include:
• keychain
• luggage attachment
• pendant
• wristband
• shoe attachment
• backpack or bag attachment
• charm carrier
• other wearable or carry applications
The hero piece may function:
• on its own
• inside a secondary body
• as a docked or inserted element
• as a transferable signature object across multiple formats
Modularity Requirement
A strong concept should show how the hero object can function as a modular platform.
I am interested in concepts where the hero object may be:
• inserted
• docked
• seated
• snapped
• clipped
• locked
• slid
• magnetically held
• or otherwise integrated into secondary bodies or carriers
The goal is to create a recognizable core identity that can move across multiple formats without losing its brand language.
Tactile / Emotional Interaction
If possible, I would like designers to explore whether the system can include a subtle physical interaction that adds emotional character.
Examples could include:
• a click
• a snap
• a slide
• a lock
• a twist
• a magnetic seat
• a docking gesture
• another tactile moment that feels satisfying and memorable
This is not required, but it is highly desirable if it can be done in a refined, believable, non-gimmicky way.
The emotional interaction may exist:
• in the hero piece itself
• in how it attaches to a secondary body
• in how it transfers across product types
Manufacturing Awareness
This project should be approached with real-world product development in mind.
I do not need a full engineering package at this stage, but I do want concepts that show awareness of:
• realistic manufacturing methods
• durable form and structure
• printable and finishable surfaces
• repeatable geometry
• realistic wall thickness and durability logic
• believable assembly or modularity
• long-term use
Designs should not ignore manufacturability.
I want concepts that could realistically move into:
• prototyping
• material development
• modular attachment design
• production refinement
Material Direction
Please explore material directions that feel:
• durable
• premium
• stable
• appropriate for products worn or carried by people
• realistic for long-term use
I am open to:
• stainless steel
• titanium
• ceramic
• hybrid material systems
• other durable and realistic premium materials
• sustainable directions if they are believable and manufacturable
Designers may also explore:
• non-metal concepts
• wood concepts
• mixed-material systems
• modular constructions with different shells or carriers
Please avoid concepts that depend on:
• obvious weak decorative plating logic
• fragile-looking materials
• disposable-feeling materials
• unrealistic luxury-only assumptions
• visibly cheap or fashion-trend hardware
Surface / Geometry Requirements
Please design with awareness of:
• printable and finishable surfaces
• smooth, comfortable handling
• realistic edge treatment
• no sharp edges
• no obvious weak points
• believable strength at attachment areas and transitions
The product should feel physically trustworthy.
Color / Finish Direction
For presentation, I would prefer concepts shown in premium restrained palettes such as:
• black
• white
• silver / steel
• charcoal
• smoke / translucent gray
• soft neutral premium tones
The core object should not depend on bright color to work. The shape and object language should be strong enough on their own.
Aesthetic Direction
The object should feel:
• modern
• refined
• calm
• confident
• premium
• enduring
I prefer concepts that rely on:
• shape
• proportion
• silhouette
• material contrast
• surface treatment
• restrained detailing
Deliverables
Please provide:
1. At least 3 original concept directions
2. A hero version of each direction
3. Front, back, and side views where possible
4. Application of the concept across at least 3 product types
5. Notes on modularity and how the core object adapts
6. Material and finish recommendations
7. Basic manufacturing / surface / structural rationale
8. Short explanation of what makes the concept distinctive and brand-ownable
Bonus Deliverables
These are optional but highly valuable:
• exploded concept view
• simple layer or assembly thinking
• attachment logic sketches
• scale variations
• notes on how the concept could evolve into a product family
• ideas for tactile interaction or docking behavior
Unique watchband links
A bracelet design that has a changeable top allowing multiple different kinds of attachments and looks. By daisy chaining these together to form a bracelet.
I will add additional prizes at half payout of 1st place for designs that have qualities I like that the winner lacks.
The preference is to not have any moving mechanical parts but if a good design uses it that isnt a deal breaker. I would like to have a design where it rotates circular into place slightly for the template but that’s not a requirement.
I will include a video sample showing and explaining the basic concept I have made with some basic CAD assistance but purely amateur attempt. I would like any clean up ideas for the buckle but mostly interested in mechanisms for the Template.
- Physically it should be similar to a watchband in size. Look at attached samples for reference. Width should be around 20 mm (Standard watchband size), length from 16 - 20mm and thickness no greater than 6mm with template height.
There are 2 parts the buckle and the template.
Buckle - The main body that allows the template to insert into the top and lock in. The buckles connect to each other at a specific angle and when connected the template cant be removed. (See video and sample) I refer to the part sticking out of each band as the connector.
Template - The top insert that changes the appearance or function of the buckle. Being used as a watchband buckle, change in appearance, or a text message.
Safety Glasses Clippable Heads-Up Warning Device
Design a product concept for a warning system which clips to a users safety glasses to provide audible and visual warnings of nearby workplace hazards. Module should clip-on existing modern safety glasses. There should be a warning light in the user’s peripheral vision and speaker aimed down towards users ear. (Optional) forward facing flashlight. Include 1 push-button for “snoozing” warnings, and another push-button for the flashlight.
Wrist Wearable that tracks the brain. Like Whoop, but for the mind.
Surya is a wrist wearable that tracks the mind: focus, mindfulness, flow state, stress etc. It's like Whoop, but for the mind.
Objective:
To design the wristband.
Key points:
1. Minimalism: Clean, simple lines with no excessive elements.
2. Comfort and Practicality: Lightweight and ergonomic for all-day wear. Adjustable and comfortable for a wide range of wrist sizes.
3. Form Factor: Unobtrusive wristband that blends seamlessly with everyday wear.
4. Option for interchangeable case & bands in different colours and materials (e.g., vegan leather, silicone, or stainless steel).
No Screen:
5. A screenless design with LED indicators that show users' state of mind ie focus level in real time at a glance
6. A detachable battery (refer to Whoop)
User Experience Goals:
1. A device that feels like a natural extension of the body.
2. A design that promotes calmness, focus, and a connection to the present moment.
3. Avoid anything overly flashy or loud—this is a tool for introspection and growth.
Deliverables:
1. Concept sketches of the wristband design (top, side, and 3D views).
2. Material and color palette suggestions.
3. Renderings for how the wristband looks on a variety of wrist types.
Wearable Pill Storage and Managment
Hi Everyone!
We are excited to see what the community comes up with! Thank you for your amazing designs. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Overview:
In essence, it's a bracelet that holds multiple days worth of a medication and has some of our custom hardware in it. (hardware is roughly .5" by .75", but will become smaller in the future). Please see sketches for further information
Design:
We would like to be able to store different types of pills in different parts of the bracelet. I've included some very rough concepts of my own, but I am by no means a designer or artist and need help figuring out the best way to do this. The CAD image is something that I quickly made for a first prototype a while ago. It is inefficient in terms of storage and very clunky - not what we are going for. An innovative design is the primary thing that we are looking for. We aren't particularly concerned at this point in time if it has fancy waves on the outside, crystals, or beveled edges. It is still important for the bracelet to be aesthetic, but the "jewelry" aspect of this can be done at a later time. It is far more important that we maximize the number of pills that it can hold without having a massive and uncomfortable bracelet. Furthermore, one concept that we are considering is to have a core bracelet that has our hardware in it and then supplementary 'bands' of the medication. We are open to other design options if you think you have something more optimal! If you only have one medication, then there either would only be one band or there can be place holder pieces/blanks that would go in the places if you were to have multiple medications.
Mechanisms:
Access to the pill should be fairly user friendly. I've thought about many different designs, all ranging from individual compartments with covers, one large cover that snaps over, a sliding cover, and even a spring loaded mechanism that pushes out the pills one at a time. I understand that it will be a bit more difficult to make this bracelet compact. Ideally it would hold 1 weeks worth of medication. With that being said, it would be even better if the bracelet held multiple medications, but that is more pills.
Pills:
The type of pill is something that we're currently working with. The larger pills are about 22mm in the greatest dimension. Most pills are circular or oval shaped. The median is approximately 15 mm. Things like birth control, heart medication, seizure medication, etc.
